Trials Of The Dunya
Surah Al-Ankaboot, Verse 2:
أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ
Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, We believe, and not be tried?
Our biggest form of trial in this dunya is being in this dunya itself, our life in this dunya in itself is a test...how we spend it, live every minute and what we make out of it would be evaluated by Allah.
As Muslims, we expect trials to come like the night comes after day and day after night. We are constantly in situations were we're being tested by Allaah, as He has promised; and for those of us who pass these tests, a reward, enormous awaits us.
We should know that these trials are not exclusive to hardships only, but rather Allah tests us through different things including our health, intellect, family, wealth, security, knowledge, desires, temptations, and others.
Allah may test us with ease to measure our gratitude or with difficulty to measure our patience, both of which would earn us beautiful rewards from Allah.
As Muslims, we must strive to hold fast to the promise of Allah, and use whatever situation we are in as a means to get closer to Him and not to get distracted from Him.
He knows best that we are not perfect and Hence he has given us the tool of Tawbah, to seek His forgiveness for where we fall short, but He has also enjoined upon us to work towards excellence in all our affairs.
The best way to pass these trials is to have Taqwa (God-consciousness) and practice patience; patience in remaining steadfast in doing good despite all odds and patience in refraining from that which is prohibited regardless of the temptations because we believe and hope for the Mercy and the reward of Allah. And we should keep in mind, that as far as the believer is concerned, All His affairs are good, as affirmed by the prophet salAllaahu alayhi wa sallam, for He has the potential to reap good from whatever the state of His affairs.
Hence we should remain optimistic and hopeful, & let our hope drive us to work towards attaining the greatest heights in the hereafter.
Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 212:
The life of this world is made to seem fair to those who disbelieve, and they mock those who believe, and those who have Taqwa [guard (against evil)] shall be above them on the day of resurrection;"
May Allah enable us to pass all the Trials of this Dunya & make us among those who are successful in this life & the next. Aameen.
