Al-Mujeeb

Al-Mujeeb, The Responsive

In more than one verse, Allah promises to respond to our supplications (so long as it is not a supplication of sin or severing blood ties). The prophets never hesitated to request from Allah, and so they did by pouring out their hearts.
Zakariya (alaihis salaam) prayed to Allah for an heir. Zakariya was old, at an age that naturally, he wouldn't be able to have a child. But he still requested. He explained his plight to his Lord (though he was fully aware that Allah did know his condition), he poured his heart out in seclusion and begged Allah for aid.

"He said, 'My Lord! indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord! And verily, I fear my relatives after me, and my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir. Who shall inherit me, and inherit the posterity of Yaqub and make him, my Lord, one with whim You are Well-Pleased!" {Q19:4-6}

How Amazing the dua of Zakariya!

He explains to Allah his situation and one might think, he was requesting for a miracle. He has reached old age and his wife is barren, how can he have a son?!

It doesn't stop there. He doesn't only request for a son, but a righteous one. One he says who will 'inherit him and the posterity of Yaqub' and one with whom Allah is well pleased.

How many times have you paid this much attention to your dua to Allah? How many times have you humbled yourself, full of hope even while you are troubled and SPOKEN to Allah?

This is the prophet of God, and the prophets are examples for us.

Don't hesitate to ask Allah. Even the minutest or what may seem the most trivial of things. Allah not only listens, HE responds. HE always does. When you have a slight headache, talk to Allah. When you're panicking before an interview, talk to Allah. When you hope the power won't go out, talk to Allah. When your life takes a drastic turn, and it feels like everything is out of place, talk to Allah. HE is the closest to you, you don't have to reach too far.And Allah, is Al-Mujeeb, the Responsive.

"O Zakariyya," Allah says "Verily, we give you the glad tidings of a son, whose name will be Yahya. We have given that name to none before." {Q19:7}
What joy?! And he had more...

" 'O Yahya! Hold fast the scripture.' And we gave him wisdom while yet a child. And made him sympathetic to men as a mercy from us, and pure from sins and he was righteous. And dutiful towards his parents, and he was neither arrogant nor disobedient. And peace be on him the day he was born, and the day he dies, and the day he will be raised up to life!" {Q19:12-15}

See?

So what makes you reluctant or hesitant in asking Allah when HE is Al-Mujeeb? When HE is most compassionate to HIS slaves? When HE is Al-Qaadir, Able.

Raise your hands to the sky, give HIM all praise, seek HIS forgiveness..then, ask away!

HE is Al-Mujeeb, the responsive.
